Students mixed plaster and poured it into cups.  After the plaster set, they carved figures inspired by Henry Moore.

Found Object Sculptures

Students studied artists Sayaka Ganz and Deborah Butterfield before starting this project.  

I loved seeing the wide variety of materials the students chose to use, and I loved helping them problem-solve how to arrange/attach it all together.  My students' creativity never ceases to amaze me! :)

Relief Sculptures with Rhythm

Students used cardboard, tag board, and other found objects to create these. The sculptures were to demonstrate the principle of design, Rhythm.

Portrait Busts

Students created portrait busts from clay.  They were to express a story, emotion, or idea through the bust.

Calder/Gabo Sculptures

Alexander Calder and Naum Gabo inspired Sculpture

Students researched Calder and Gabo before starting this project.  Students used wire and bamboo to make the armature and then covered it with tissue paper and liquid starch.  The sculptures were to demonstrate visual movement and balance.
